Seether Same Damn Life Exclusive Lyric Video Premiere 2

New Lyric Video out for Same Damn Life!

Head over to Loudwire to check out the premiere of our new lyric video for “Same Damn Life.”

Shaun on “Same Damn Life:” “It’s just a song that I was screwing around with in my studio and it was like two or three in the morning and I just started playing that riff and decided it was pretty funny. So … I came back the next day and finished writing the song. I just wanted to write something that was fun … It’s got three different parts that shouldn’t fit together but somehow in the song it all works out. It’s a quirky little number.”

“Isolate and Medicate,” Seether’s sixth studio album, sees the multi-platinum rock band delivering a passionate and commanding record with tunes that are already living up to past Seether chart-toppers such as “Fake It,” “Remedy,” “Rise About This” and “Find Again.”

Ask Seether frontman and guitarist Shaun Morgan the secret to a writing hit rock song, and he’ll say he doesn’t have a clear-cut answer.

“I don’t know if I know what that is, to be honest,” Morgan told “I’m just really grateful that we keep managing to somehow write songs people enjoy.

“I write songs I like to play and I like to hear and often to fill a void in a musical landscape that I find to be glaring. It’s fun to be a band that gets to write songs that are different than what’s on the radio right now. We try to stand out. We don’t want to sound like anybody else. That’s why I try not to listen to other rock bands or any other bands in our genre, because I want as much of what comes onto an album to come from our own inspiration and our own lives.”

Seether are taking that catalog of hits on the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival this August alongside Skillet, Buckcherry, Godsmack and more. The tour kicks off Aug. 15 in Clarkston, Mich., and runs through a Sept. 21 show in Tucson, Ariz.

At Uproar, Morgan will play his Schecter Shaun Morgan Signature Guitar and run it through his Mesa/Boogie Triple Rectifier. Just before the Uproar kickoff, spoke with Morgan about the upcoming trek, his love for Nirvana and the guitars he used on “Isolate and Medicate.” You’ve often said that Nirvana is the band that made you want to pick up the guitar.

Shaun Morgan: Yeah, Nirvana inspired me to pick up the guitar because of the emotional connection I made with it immediately. It’s always the major inspiring factor to pick up the guitar.

It’s been one great touring year for Seether that’s about to get better with their participation in the Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Festival. The band will share stages with Godsmack, Skillet, Buckcherry and more during the run. We recently chatted with the guys about Uproar, as well as staging their own Rise Above Festival earlier this year and the band’s future plans.

When asked about the Uproar Festival, frontman Shaun Morgan seemed ready to go. He told us, “The tour itself is pretty well organized and well-run and there’s some good new bands that are on the bill that I’d like to see. Other than that, we just really want to go out and play. That’s really what we’re all about. We’re not very good at the other stuff.”

Seether are now several albums into their music career, most recently releasing the ‘Isolate and Medicate’ disc earlier this summer. The guys dropped by the Loudwire studios to chat about the album, their current single ‘Words as Weapons,’ Shaun Morgan‘s musical inspirations and more.

The vocalist told us that he pulled from his journals for inspiration during the recording of ‘Isolate and Medicate,’ but what was left untapped might surprise you. “If it makes me angry enough or sad enough, I’ll write about it,” says Morgan. “It’s the happy stuff that I feel that I don’t want to get rid of. That stuff stays bottled up.”

“Isolate and Medicate” debuts at #4 on Billboard’s album chart

First single “Words as Weapons” hits #1 at active rock radio

Seether have a lot to celebrate this week. Their sixth studio album, Isolate and Medicate (The Bicycle Music Company/Concord Music Group) lands at #4 on Billboard’s Top Albums chart with over 37,000 albums sold as the album’s first single, “Words As Weapons” rises to #1 on the Active Rock Radio chart. Continuing their amazing run as one of alternative rock’s most consistent hit makers, “Words As Weapons” is the bands 12th #1 hit and ranks among their quickest chart climbers.

Artist Direct raves: “The first taste of 2014’s Isolate & Medicate upholds all of the pillars of the group’s sound that fans adore worldwide. At the same time, there’s an airy melody and elegant lyricism that hints at marked evolution.”

Loudwire concurs: “Several albums into their career, Seether prove they’re as vital as ever with their latest disc, ‘Isolate and Medicate.’ The group offers one of their finest albums to date by digging deep and expressing themselves in a variety of ways.”

Coming off a successful European tour where they played some of the biggest festivals in the world, Seether went straight to New York City last week for a sold out record release day show at The Gramercy Theatre. They are getting ready to head back out for a mix of headlining and festival shows this summer, including a main stage return to the 2014 Rockstar Energy UPROAR Festival kicking off on August 15th in Detroit, MI. Seether and Godsmack lead the stellar festival line-up with support from Skillet, Buckcherry, Escape the Fate and more.

“We’d like offer a BIG congrats to Seether, truly one of the hardest working bands in rock,” stated Jake Wisely, President of The Bicycle Music Company. He added, “We are also thrilled by the effort of our partners at Concord Music Group,
simultaneously achieving a top 5 album debut and a #1 single at Active Rock radio, proving once and for all that Concord rocks!”
